阿德里安·哈沃斯

阿德里安·哈沃斯（Andrian Hardy Haworth，1768-1833）出生在英国的科廷厄姆（Cottingham）。他早年接受了法律专业的培训，但是很快就放弃了这个职业而转投自然历史。哈沃斯是十二卷属名的来源。

哈沃斯关于芦荟族的第一次著作是在1801年《林奈学会会刊》（Transactions of the Linnean Society）发表的《芦荟属新的整理，以及关于此属和其它多肉属的知识进展的历史概述》（A new arrangement of the Genus Aloe, with a chronological sketch of the progressive knowledge of that Genus, and of Other Succulent Genera）。这是一次把林奈定义里芦荟分组的尝试，而他的Parviflorae组最终成为了十二卷属。

在哈沃斯之后的著作里，特别是《多肉植物概要》（Synopsis Plantarum Succulentum，1812）、《多肉植物附录》（Supplementum Plantarum Succulentarum，1819）和《多肉植物修订》（Revisiones Plantarum Succulentarum，1821），他描述了更多新的种，也基于杜瓦尔的结果把一些变体提升为种。他提出的很多种类至今还被沿用。
